Nigel’s reports, or what he thought happened!

Our speakers put a great deal of thought and effort into their plans for an evening with the group. Therefore I feel it’s only right that I show how much attention I have been paying to their contribution. Despite this limitation (dementia and short attention span) you will find full reports on each meeting listed below. If you want to read about past meetings you can find all my reports by using the list on the left in the blue panel. To read meeting reports for 2009 click on the month below:-

February. No report due to heavy snow. Fortunately our speaker was still free in March. So although we missed a meeting we didn’t miss Emma.

March: Emma Sargent. ‘How  to be a better Parent with NLP’

“Emma took the first few moments to reassure us that she is as capable of ‘bad parenting’ as anyone. Indeed she confesses readily to finding it much easier to coach other people’s children than her own” Read the full report here

April: Cathy Foster. ‘How  to be a better Sport with NLP’

Cathy has not only coached Olympians, she has been one herself, representing the GB team in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics as the first woman helms-person. She and her crew came 7th but won the last race. Read the full report here

May: Karen Williams. ‘How  to be a better Communicator with NLP & DISC profiling’

Knowing more about how you relate to the rest of the world can be useful in communicating more effectively with all those people who don’t understand your ‘map of the world’. You know the ones I mean, they are usually misguided or just plain wrong!  Read the full report here

June: Dianne Lowther. ‘How  to be a better Leader with NLP’

Dianne has been to NLP-South before and I keep inviting her back because she really gets us all involved in the evening. Tonight was no exception and after no more than two minutes to say hello she had us all in four’s and fives discussing our definition of a Leader. Read the full report here

July: Lisa Wake. ‘How  to be a better ME with NLP’

She chose a glorious hot day and drove down from the frozen north with the top down on her car, arriving with bonny pink cheeks. The heat was debilitating that night, even the bugs found it hard to sing, and even harder to sting. Read the full report here

September: Fergus McClelland. ‘How to be a better speaker with NLP’

Technically this was the longest setup I’ve had at all the NLP-South meetings. Fergus arrived with his team of two helpers, two laptops and his sound system. I arrived with 3 video cameras, my sound system and one helper. This also makes this the techiest report so far too as I have embedded some sound clips along with my cartoons. October: Sue Knight. ‘How to be a better ? With NLP’

Sue now lives in France and although I might have suggested she flew over especially for us, she was due to run a course in London the next week. She reminded us about the cultural differences. Living in a small French town where everyone says hello and shakes hands (Bonjour Madame), they even do this in large French towns,  compared to the impersonal bustle of London. It must have seemed like a small oasis to her to join us at NLP-South. We don’t just shake hands we hug too. Read the full report here

November: Rob Cuesta. ‘How to be a better influencer with NLP’

As well as coping brilliantly without flip pads Rob was also dealing with the after effects of Flu. Not the insignificant Swine variety, the much more debilitating ManFlu. Just look at how washed out he seems. And then to cap it all he was introduced with an impression of Michael MacIntyre as I attempted to influence the audience into an excited frenzy. December: Nigel & Jenny Heath. ‘How to be a better coach with NLP’

In many ways this report should be easier to write than the others because I was one of the presenters and have my notes of what I thought I was going to say, do and be. But on the other hand this also makes it more difficult as modesty prevents me from waxing lyrical on what a great session it was. (Oh you thought that too, great!) Read the full report here
